Micheelsen wrote a lot of organ music, but also music for orchestra and choir, e.g. his Tod und Leben: Ein deutsches Requiem. It is for chorus (5 voices) and orchestra. Micheelsen used German texts from the bible, e.g. psalm 90. He was inspired by the Musikalische Exequien of Heinrich Schütz and Ein deutsches Requiem of Johannes Brahms.
