G. Wittmann
Gottfried Wittmann (1878 - 1976), a German composer and organist. Born in Ochsenfeld (near Eichstätt); died in Eichstätt. After his ordination in 1903, he was chaplain in Pleinfeld and Schwabach for three years; In 1906 he was appointed prefect of music. After his ordination in 1903, he was chaplain in Pleinfeld and Schwabach for three years; In 1906 he was called back to the seminary as music prefect. He held this position for a period of 30 years. For the last six years he was supported by the later cathedral music director Johannes Schlick, who then replaced him. Even after this activity ended, Wittmann remained in the seminary until his death in 1976 and - including his time as a student - “lived in the seminary” for over 80 years. Gottfried Wittmann left behind relatively few works. In addition to a printed requiem and a litany, there are only two masses (one-part with organ and two-part a cappella) as well as a “Libera” and a St. Nicholas song in manuscript, which all show signs of use and have therefore probably been used often - from practice for the practice.
