György Orbán

György Orbán (12/07/1947), a Hungarian composer. He was born in Marosvásárhely (Tirgu Mures) Rumania, though his parents were Hungarian. In 1979 he went to Hungary, where he still lives, working as a music editor for Editio Music, and teaching at the Ferenc Liszt Academy for Music in Budapest. He composed more than a hundred works, sacred choral works with and without orchestra, orchestral works and chamber music.
Lux aeterna
Lux aeterna (1981), for mixed choir and solo instruments (three recorders). The text is a mixture of Hungarian and Latin.
Requiem
Requiem - for the victims of the 1956 Hungarian uprising, written in 2004, is for orchestra, choir, SATB. Traditional Latin text, with a long Sequenza. Duration: ca. 60'. World premiere: in Budapest November 2004.
