Requiem
♫ Requiem © ASV CD DCA 914 Requiem for mixed voices, solo viola and organ in memory of Verdi who died in 1901. The duration of Puccini's requiem is only 5'35. But it is a masterpiece with a lovely and moving violinsolo. The mournful tones of the solo viola lend a ditinctive atmosphere to the composition which is also characterised by the composer's restrained choral writing, and his use of subtly shifting harmonies in the organ part.
