Andrej Filippowitsch Paschtschenko (15/08/1883 - 16/11/1972), a Russian composer (The Ukraine), born in Rostov on Don. He was the first componist who wrote a piece for a Theremin, the first electronic instrument, invented by Leon Theremin. The piece is called: A Symphonic Mystery (1923).
The theremin was one of the first electronic" instruments. By placing one's hands near two antenna one can vary the volume and frequency of the theremin tone. It takes quite a bit of practice (like all musical instruments) to build the coordination necessary to play the theremin."
Requiem
Paschtschenko's Requiem in memory of the heroes who laid down there lives in the second world war, completed in 1942, was written for chorus and orchestra, to the composer's own words in praise of the Russian Army.
