Antony Philip David [Antony] Pitts (24/03/1969), an English composer, producer and director. Antony Pitts was born in Farnborough (Kent), in 1969, sang as a boy in the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace, and was an Academic Scholar at New College, Oxford. In 1990 he founded the ensemble TONUS PEREGRINUS, and won a Cannes Classical Award (2004) for the Naxos CD of Arvo Pärt's Passio. In 1992 he joined BBC Radio 3 and was awarded the Radio Academy BT Award for Facing the Radio (1995) - one of the first live interactive experiments on the internet. For the turn of the Millennium he devised The Unfinished Symphony - an 18-hour history of Western music. In 2004 he was awarded a Prix Italia for A Pebble in the Pond. His commissioned compositions include the 40-voice XL (a companion motet for Tallis's Spem in alium) and The Naxos Book of Carols - both published by Faber Music. A CD of his sacred music (Seven Letters) is released on Hyperion in June 2005.
