Eduardo Reck [Eduardo] Miranda (20/10/1963), a Brazilian composer and research scientist, from Porto Alegre. He started his career designing IT systems for shops and supermarkets. He soon discovered that the challenges of that sort of business held limited interest for him and opted for a radical change of career where he could combine his knowledge of computing with music. Currently in charge of computer music research at the University of Plymouth, England, Miranda is devoted to the quest for new forms of musical expression, independent of fashion and commercial tendencies, trying to amalgamate a diversity of styles with unorthodox but meticulous compositional methods.
